We place such importance on Numeracy and Literacy within our Education System, and of course they are two of the basic skills for success in life….however, just as importance for the world as a whole is the knowledge and skills gained through “Intercultural Understanding.’….without it the world is heading down a path of segregation and isolation..of walls being built, and people confined.
The Framework behind UNESCO, is a useful one for all educators to consider. If we were able to incorporate Intercultural Studies into our classrooms as often as we did Numeracy and Literacy..the world would be on its way to becoming more united and accepting.
